XM and Indoor Boosters

XM and Indoor Boosters

XM Radio requested special temporary authority (STA) to operate up to 5,000 indoor signal boosters with an EIRP of 0.0001W. The boosters would operate in XM Radio’s licensed band of 2332.5-2345 MHz. The boosters would be used to “provide adequate reception of XM’s satellite radio service inside of stores and other establishments where satellite radio receivers are displayed or used, but where signals may be attenuated due to blockage from walls and ceilings,” according to the company.
XM Radio requested the STA for 180 days or until the date when permanent rules become effective allowing terrestrial repeaters for the Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service. XM noted that this STA request is separate from its June 1, 2005 STA request to operate up to 5,000 in-store signal boosters in conjunction with Sirius Satellite Radio.
