Culbertson, Radio DJ and Writer, Dies

Dawn C. Culbertson, who once hosted a Baltimore classical music show and contributed occasionally to Radio World, died recently, according to friends and an obituary in the Baltimore Sun. She was 53.
Culbertson also was a composer and performer. The Sun said she died of an apparent heart attack after an evening of English country dancing at an area church. For about a decade, she was the overnight disc jockey on what was then WJHU(FM), operated by the Johns Hopkins University, and had a weekly 4
a.m. hour-long program, “Exploring Early Music.” She was also the station’s music librarian, the Sun reported. She left the station when it changed format in 1995.
She also studied and performed early Renaissance music, and played the lute.
