Radio sales figures jumped 10 percent in March compared to a year ago, the Radio Advertising Bureau said.
Radio’s local ad business has been leading national ad revenue this year, and that trend continued in March, when local was up 11% and national was up 5%.
Year to date, radio is up 4%, which the RAB says “reflects a healthy recovery.”
“Indicators point to this positive growth trend continuing into second quarter and picking up momentum as the year rolls out,” it stated. President/CEO Gary Fries said advertisers are starting to place buys earlier in the cycle, “which will help boost the national business, and local continues its forward momentum.”
