San Jose’s KEMR(FM) becomes 100th HD Radio Station; Ibiquity Publishes Station List

Univision-owned KEMR(FM), San Jose has become the 100th station to begin HD Radio broadcasts. Ibiquity Digital Corp. revealed the news as it unveiled a list of more than three hundred currently licensed stations that have initiated or soon will initiate HD Radio broadcasts. Visitors to www.HD-Radio.com can now search for stations transmitting analog/digital signals.
This list is part of Ibiquity’s strategy of partnering with stations and retailers to promote the availability of HD Radio technology within each market and follows the recent appointment of several executives to spearhead these efforts.
“With the ongoing success that stations are enjoying in their transition to HD Radio broadcasting, we’re now delighted to welcome the millions of radio listeners across the nation to the party,” said Ibiquity President/CEO Robert Struble. “With radio serving first and foremost as a cherished local medium, stations ability to promote the introduction of HD Radio broadcasts directly to listeners within their community coupled with the growing retail availability of HD Radio receivers paves the way for radio’s newest golden era.”
Ohio State University’s WOSU(FM) went digital Monday, April 5 with Congresswoman Deborah Pryce pushing the button that officially launched radio’s digital era in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to its on-air promotions, the station is also launching a print campaign, called “The best seat in the house just got better!” that highlights WOSU’s position as the first radio station in central Ohio to go digital.
Ibiquity intends to update its station list periodically. Visitors to the HD Radio Web site, www.HD-Radio.com, can also learn more about the new technology.
