Sirius Plans July 4 Programming; XM Snags Willie

Sirius plans an American-music tribute to celebrate July 4 with special programming on a number of its music streams July 3-6.
Its salute will feature the music of artists including B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Madonna, Prince and Louis Armstrong. Listeners can tune into interviews and music from Jane’s Addiction, Audioslave, Incubus and The Donnas. Highlights include concert performances from country venues such as Biloxi Palace, Gilley’s, Austin City Limits, the Astrodome and Sirius’ studios.
Meanwhile, XM Satellite Radio said it will carry the first national radio broadcast of Willie Nelson’s annual 4th of July Picnic Weekend concert.
The 2003 concert is to include music by Nelson as well as The Dead, Merle Haggard, Leon Russell, Ray Price and Billy Bob Thornton.
