The FCC cancelled a proposed fine of $7,000 against Anastos Media Group Inc. for failing to enclose WUAM(AM)’s tower within a locked fence.
Last February, a field agent noticed the gate to the tower of the Saratoga Springs, N.Y., station was unlocked and open. Anastos Media didn’t dispute it, but said “an unknown third-party” had cut the lock; it asked for the fine to be cancelled or reduced. The licensee replaced the lock and said that before the incident, the gate had been locked.
The commission said the licensee acted in good faith and cancelled the penalty.
