Sports radio programming syndicator Sports USA, known more for its ball programs with humans is branching out. It has announced that it has secured exclusive national terrestrial radio coverage of the Triple Crown races — Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes. The deal is in partnership with the Horse Racing Radio Network and will consist of two hour programs that include live calls from the track announcer at each track.
Now that Rupert Murdoch’s Fox Sports has made it official that it will take on ESPN it is going to go all out. The Fox Sports Radio show, “Jay Mohr Sports” will be giving away a 40-inch Westinghouse TV each day, putatively to celebrate college basketball tournaments.
Another big national sports broadcaster, CBS Sports Radio has a new sports interview program, “The John Feinstein Show,” starting March 6. A best-selling author, Feinstein will interview a variety of guests. Announced in a release — Bob Costas, NBA Commissioner David Stern, former NBA player Steve Kerr and golfer Tom Watson. Feinstein specializes in basketball.
And out in space, former NFL quarterback Rich Gannon will be part of the new team for “The SiriusXM Blitz” program. The two-time Super Bowl MVP will be joined by SiriusXM sports talk program host, Bruce Murray.
