SBE Names Ornellas to Board Seat

He fills seat recently vacated by Mark Simpson

Society of Broadcast Engineers President Jerry Massey has appointed Jason Ornellas, CBRE, CRO, to join the SBE board of directors. The executive committee ratified the appointment during a conference call on March 21.

He fills the vacancy left by Mark Simpson, who resigned from the board after he was recently promoted to vice president of engineering for Townsquare Media. Simpson was elected to the board in 2016.

Ornellas is director of engineering at CBS Radio, Sacramento, Calif., and a regular contributor to Radio magazine. Prior to moving to Sacramento and joining Chapter 43, Ornellas was a member of SBE chapters in Indianapolis, San Francisco and New York.

In the announcement, Massey noted that Ornellas had previously run for a seat on the board and said “it was a natural choice to ask him to join the board now.”

Ornellas’ term will expire in fall 2018 — 10 years after he first joined SBE as a student member.
