The Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) announced the winners of its annual global media awards on 20 November. The AIB Media Excellence Awards are designed to celebrate the best programs and channels catering to international television, radio and online audiences.
The radio-related winners included BBC World Service, “Clearest Coverage of a Single News Event – Radio,” for its coverage of the Israel–Lebanon war; BBC World Service, “Best Topical Programme – Radio,” for “Ghana: African Perspectives;” Radio New Zealand International for “Most Innovative Partnership;” and SW Radio Africa for “Most Creative Marketing Concept” (award shared with France 24).
The AIB International Station Of The Year – Radio was Radio New Zealand International, and the AIB International Radio Personality of the Year was George Arney of BBC World Service.
