If you plan to take the train to and from this week’s NAB Radio Show in Philadelphia, here’s a story to monitor.
According to the Associated Press, Amtrak has asked a U.S. District Court to intercede to avoid a union walkout on Friday, getaway day for the radio show.
“Members of unions representing 8,000 of the passenger railroad’s 21,000 employees said they’ll walk off the job Friday to protest what they call the railroad’s chronic underfunding,” AP stated in a CNN report. The union is the Transport Workers Union of America. An Amtrak official is quoted as saying a strike would be illegal.
