Showdown of the apps scheduled for January CES Show

For smartphone apps aficionados, there’ll be no better place to be than Las Vegas in January at the International CES Show (Jan. 6–9, 2011).

The reason is the second annual Mobile Apps Showdown. Sponsored by Web-Tech site Living in Digital Times/NetShelter Technology Media, the competition is open to app developers on all smartphone platforms: Android, BlackBerry, iPhone, Nokia, Palm, Windows, et al.

A preliminary weeding will take the number of contestants down to 25. Applications must be in by Nov. 31, 2010 with an “Early Bird” discount on the entry fee available for entries before July 15, next Thursday.

Competition organizer, judge and chief app wrangler Robin Raskin states: “There are more than 185,000 mobile apps available that can help us do everything from finding restaurants to finding your parked car in a crowded shopping mall.”

The competition is intended to draw mobile app developers to the convention.
