Belden appointed Wolfgang Babel to the position of vice president, operations and president of Belden Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Dr. Babel joined Belden in October as managing director of Belden Automation, comprising Hirschmann and Lumberg Automation.
He served as managing director of Endress + Hauser Conducta Gesellschaft für Mess- und Regeltechnik mbH & Co., KG, in Gerlingen, Germany, designers and manufacturers of measurement equipment and process instrumentation.
Previously Babel held positions with Diehl GmbH & Co. KG, an electronics and munitions company. He has a Doctor of Engineering degree in information technology from the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in Nuremberg, and a Ph.D. in System Theory Mathematics from Columbia Pacific University, San Francisco.
