Two More NYC Landlords Get the Pirate Letter

The commission traced broadcasts to properties in Brooklyn and the Bronx

Two more New York City property owners have received notices of illegal pirate radio broadcasting.

The FCC enforcement Bureau sent its “landlord letter” to 271 Zacko LLC in the Bronx and the Joseph and Sheila Best Living Trust in Brooklyn.

In the first case, the FCC said the broadcasts were on 90.9 MHz in April of this year. It traced the signals to a multi-family dwelling on East 197th Street.

In the second case, the signals were on 107.9 and traced to a property on East 40th Street in June.

The letters notified the owners that the FCC has the authority to issue a fine of up to $2.3 million against property owners or managers in such cases.

In April the FCC said it had sent 16 letters to property owners in the city. This fall it confirmed a $2.3 million fine against Radio Impacto 2 for broadcasts on 101.5 in Queens.
