The Consumer Electronics Association is leading a campaign to generate support for the Saving High-Tech Innovators from Egregious Legal Disputes Act. Conveniently acronymed SHIELD, the act ads stiff penalties designed to discourage patent trolls.
CEA is encouraging people to “text the word ‘trolls’ to 52886 to contact your member of Congress to support the SHIELD Act.”
The message is being forwarded through a number of forums and platforms.
So-called patent trolls have made their presence known to some radio broadcasters through the “MAD” suit. There is also a patent troll-driven suit concerning podcasting technology that has recently surfaced. See our “MAD/DigiMedia Sues More Radio Groups.”
