Cumulus Ups Roberts to VP of Programming Partnerships

Indianapolis cluster also taps new VP/Market Manager

Aaron Roberts

Cumulus Media has promoted Aaron Roberts to the newly created position of vice president of programming partnerships for Cumulus Media, Westwood One and Nash. Also on the Cumulus Media front, the company’s three-station cluster in Indianapolis has new leadership, adding Tom Stemlar as vice president/market manager.

Roberts will continue to be based out of corporate headquarters in Atlanta. He previously worked for Cumulus as its national director of special projects, a position he had held since 2012. Prior to that, over two decades, Roberts held programming and promotions roles in Milwaukee; Toledo, Ohio; Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; Nashville, Tenn.; and Roanoke, Va.

“Aaron has performed beautifully in the difficult position of serving two masters. What he does impacts both art and commerce,” said Cumulus SVP of Content and Programming Mike McVay. “He will work closely with both SVP, Brand Partnerships Tommy Page and myself.”

In Indianapolis, Tom Stemlar joins Cumulus from Bonten Media Group in New York City, where he was senior vice president of sales. Prior to that, he was SVP of sales for Indianapolis’ Emmis Television, a division of Emmis Communications. He also had an 11-year career with Katz Continental Television, working as account executive in Chicago, a sales manager in Dallas and vice president/director of sales.

“We look forward to Tom’s leadership having a positive impact on our Indianapolis team and brands,” said Cumulus Regional Vice President Dave Crowl.

He holds a business administration degree from the University of Iowa.
