Curren to Lead Radio at CPB

Curren to Lead Radio at CPB

Vincent Curren, general manager of WXPN(FM), Philadelphia, will become senior vice president for radio at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in early 2003. Congress created CPB to disperse public funds to noncommercial stations.
“This is a critical time for public radio,” Curren said. “The basic radio technology is changing and new technologies are entering the marketplace. This is an exciting time to think about the next five to 10 years and how we ‘ll position our service to use these technologies to better serve our listeners.”
Curren has been general manager since 1996. He increased listener support while decreasing time spent on on-air fund-raising.
Curren succeeds Rick Madden, who was vice president for radio until his death earlier this year.
