DAB Digital Radio Launches Music Podcast

The group promoting Eureka-147 DAB technology in the United Kingdom has launched a podcast featuring songs from DAB digital radio stations in the U.K.
The Digital Radio Development Bureau says the free podcast, which changes each week, is on the DRDB’s consumer Web site, www.digitalradionow.com, as well as Web sites of proponents like Xfm, Capital Radio and Choice.
The group says 13.6% of the U.K. adult population has a DAB digital radio at home, which translates to 6.7 million people; 23% of DAB owners are age 15–24.
“The youth market is the fastest-growing sector buying DAB digital radios, so it’s important to tell them about program content designed for them. We felt a podcast was the ideal way to sample the type of fresh, new content available on stations like Choice, BBC 1Xtra, Virgin Radio Xtreme, BBC 6 Music, and Kerrang,” stated DRDB chief executive Ian Dickens.
