DAB+ Listening Increases in Australia

Audience listening to radio through DAB+ devices totals nearly 3.2 million

A recent report from GfK shows that DAB+ digital radio continues to grow in the Outback, as nearly 3.2 million Australians are listening to radio through DAB devices.

About 40 percent of people in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth now have access to a DAB+ digital radio, according to Commercial Radio Australia CEO Joan Warner.

In a statement on the report, Warner said: “The industry is continuing to enhance the quality and variety of DAB+ digital-only programming, and we’re confident that when consumers experience these targeted and sometimes niche services they will appreciate the great diversity that is now on offer.”

The release of the report coincides with an announcement by radio manufacturer Bush and retailers JB Hi-Fi and Dick Smith for an AU$2 million marketing campaign promoting digital radio sales during the Christmas season.
