EBU Publishes ACIP Recommendations

The European Broadcasting Union has published its recommendations for interoperability between audio-over-IP equipment.

The document outlines the details of the agreement reached by equipment manufacturers and broadcasters from the EBU N/ACIP technical project group and announced during the recent IBC2007 convention.

The interoperability standard is based on open IETF standards, including RTP and SIP, and is described as effectively being an extension of the voice-over-IP standard that accommodates wideband high-quality audio codecs.

Codec manufacturers involved in defining the recommendations include AETA, AEQ, APT, AVT, Comrex, Digigram, Harris, Prodys, Mandozzi, Mayah, MDO UK, Musicam USA, Streamit, Technica Del Arte, Telos Systems, Tieline and You/Com.
