Emmis Cuts Jobs

MediaWeek reported the company cut positions in New York, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Chicago and Austin, Texas. Other employees had their hours reduced.

Emmis Communications eliminated about four dozen jobs this week.

MediaWeek reported the company cut positions in New York, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Chicago and Austin, Texas. Other employees had their hours reduced.

It quoted a company spokesperson saying the employees will receive severance packages, and that the cuts were for expense reduction reasons.

Last month Emmis posted a loss in its third quarter as domestic revenue dropped due to continuing weakness in its New York and Los Angeles clusters, according to AP.

Emmis, based in Indiana, owns 21 FM and two AM domestic radio stations; it also has TV assets that it is seeking to spin off. It also owns a radio network, international radio stations and several other businesses.
