Three hundred employees, three crowded locations. That’s Minnesota Public Radio now. But MPR plans to re-do and add onto its St. Paul headquarters. It hopes to complete the project two summers from now.
The organization said it will more than double existing space, put its staff under a single roof and include new technology and production facilities.
The project involves redesign and expansion of MPR’s main building in downtown St. Paul. The 120,000-square-foot building, designed by local architectural firm HGA, will have eight new studios, more public space, a digital archive facility and multimedia conference rooms.
A $46 million capital campaign will be launched publicly next month; the target sum includes $41 million for the building project. MPR has won early funding from private donors, the city and several foundations.
