The FCC rejected challenges to its consent decrees over indecency signed with Viacom and Emmis.
The Right to Decency and the American Decency Association asked the commission to dismiss the Viacom agreement, while several parties, including the Illinois Family Institute, filed for the dismissal of the Emmis agreement. The groups claimed the commission did not have the legal right to settle indecency claims using consent decrees.
The commission disagreed and rejected the petitions to dismiss the agreements.
