The Miami-based Latin America Mission is publishing “Proclaiming the Gospel: Guidelines for Local Christian Radio.” The volume, by Kenneth D. MacHarg, was written to help Christian radio programmers in developing countries with their broadcast content. The book is scheduled for release in March 2003 and will cost $6.00 plus shipping ($2 in the U.S. and $3 elsewhere in the world).
“Proclaiming the Gospel” begins with a biblical perspective on communication and then moves on to discussions about programming style, developing a coherent program format, selecting speakers and music, announcing and studio techniques, promotion and publicity and funding.
The book was developed after MacHarg spoke at a Christian writers conference in Temuco, Chile several years ago. He found that many Latin Americans were getting into radio, but they had no resources to help them. In a Temuco seminary library, for example, he found neither books nor pamphlets on how to develop quality Christian programming and realized there was a void he needed to fill.
A Spanish translation will be available mid-2003. The books can be ordered from Latin American Mission, Box 52-7900, Miami, FL 33152.
