At least 21 radio stations and six TV stations in Florida are off the air thanks to Hurricane Ian.

Fifteen FM stations, six AMs and six television stations notified the Federal Communications Commission that they were down, according to the FCC Communications Status Report that was issued at noon Eastern today (Sept. 29). Meanwhile in Puerto Rico three radio stations remain off because of the earlier storm Fiona.

The cellphone network was hit hard by Ian too.

Counties where at least 40% of cell sites were down include Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Lee and Sarasota.

In total roughly 11% of cell sites in the affected area (meaning most of Florida) were down, according to the report, which added that the percentage of sites down does not necessarily correlate to a percentage of people without service because of overlaps and emergency sites that may be operating.
