In $15 Million Deal, University Sells Station in Cincinnati

Xavier University plans to sell WVXU(FM) and the X-Star Network to Cincinnati Classical Public Radio station WGUC(FM) for $15 million.
Xavier wants to use money from the sale, subject to FCC approval, to fund a student building.
WGUC President/GM Richard Eiswerth said getting a second frequency in order to serve both a classical and news audience has been part of that organization’s strategic plan for five years. He expects WGUC to eventually become all-classical while its news and information programming would shift to WVXU.
Patrick Communications brokered the sale for Xavier and Public Radio Capital represented WGUC in the transaction, which is expected to close in about 90 days.
