Jones Radio Networks launched the Jones Digital Audio Server, a delivery technology platform for distribution of its radio content.
The company began live transmission to affiliates in November. It said it is continuing a replacement program of older Starguide and Wegener networks, which have served the company since the mid-1990s.
JRN’s Eric Wiler stated that the system allows the company better control of its content. “We have seen the explosion of technology on the satellite and Internet fronts and this new platform allows JRN to be at the top of the industry for integration with radio stations and their local platforms.”
JDAS is made by Wegener Communications; it delivers content via satellite and Internet and contains a hard disk that allows stations to retrieve affidavit files, liners, commercial distribution and short-form programming.
