WLS(FM) in Chicago will be saying goodbye to long-time host John Records Landecker, who will be retiring at the end of July.
An old-fashioned record-spinning DJ, Landecker’s been in the business for over 40 years, working at stations in Ann Arbor, Mich., Cleveland, Philadelphia, Toronto and Chicago. He’s a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Radio wing. Check out this promo pic from 1972 and then WLS(AM). And, yes, “Records” really is his middle name (it was his mother’s maiden name).
