NAB, Broadcasters Focus on Congress

New ad in Capitol Hill publications reinforces radio, TV actions

Some 600 radio TV and radio broadcasters are due in Washington this week for the annual NAB’s State Leadership Conference.

NAB is running ads in Capitol Hill publications this week to reinforce to lawmakers what local broadcasters do.

Issues high on NAB’s discussion topics are FM chips in cellphones, radio music streaming royalties, TV spectrum issues and media ownership regulations.

On Wednesday, broadcasters will be visiting with members of Congress and staff.


Congress to Probe Satellite Merger

A new congressional antitrust task force will hold a hearing next week on the proposed merger of radio subscription companies XM and Sirius, according to a statement from House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich.
