Nissan to Carry Ondas Radio

Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. has entered an agreement with Spanish digital satellite media company Ondas Media to install satellite radio receivers in Nissan and Infiniti vehicles sold in Europe.

Japanese carmaker Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. has entered an agreement with Spanish digital satellite media company Ondas Media to install satellite radio receivers in Nissan and Infiniti vehicles sold in Europe.

“Satellite radio has been hugely successful in the United States and we believe that European consumers will also be attracted to the programming diversity, continuous coverage and superior sound quality that Ondas Media is developing,” said Larry Haddad, general manager for product strategy and planning at Nissan Europe.

According to Ondas Chief Operating Officer Dave Krueger, a “significant” amount of work to develop receivers is already complete, and the radios in Nissan vehicles will be “the most advanced in the marketplace,” capable of receiving “hundreds” of channels of audio plus a suite of data services.

“This definitive agreement brings Ondas Media’s total number of presold, factory-installed satellite radios beyond the 1 million mark and is another milestone in our plan to bring our unique content offering to European consumers by 2011,” Krueger said.
