President Bush has appointed a new director of the Office of Cuba Broadcasting, which oversees Radio and TV Marti.
Cuban-born Pedro Roig, an attorney and historian who has hosted Radio Marti public affairs programs, succeeds Salvador Lew, who resigned due to health reasons.
Roig’s appointment is subject to the approval of the Broadcasting Board of Governors, an independent federal agency that oversees U.S. government-supported non-military international broadcasting.
