Remembering Jeff Griggs

Long-time Harris employee passed away in late February

For many Harris Broadcast customers Jeff Griggs had been the voice on the other end of calls to Harris for radio support for a number of years, according to former co-worker Dave Agnew. Griggs officially retired from Harris back in 2014, but as Radio World recently learned he passed away on Feb. 22 at the age of 60.

“Thoughts and prayers and with Jeff and his family,” said Agnew, who worked with Griggs at Harris for 12 years and now is a market engineering manager for Clear Channel. “I was always amazed with the breadth and depth of knowledge he carried with him, truly carried with him. Nine times out of 10 he would never open a book or look at a schematic when helping a co-worker or customer. From cart machines and consoles to 30 years of AM, FM and shortwave transmitter product lines.”

Griggs was born in 1955 in Quincy, Ill., a town well-known for its broadcast equipment companies.

Griggs is survived by his wife, Rose, father Thomas, two stepsons, his step-granddaughter, and four siblings. Services were held on March 3 in Mendon, Ill. Here is the funeral notice.
