Sage Alerting Systems’ well-known Digital ENDEC EAS units failed to receive the scheduled IPAWS test message on Jan. 13. The failure has been attributed to an expired security certificate used for authenticating the messages.
To remedy the situation Sage has immediately provided an updated certificate for the Digital ENDEC firmware. It can be downloaded at the Sage website. Sage says the installation should only take a few minutes. Instructions are provided.
Installation will re-enable IPAWS message reception. Sage’s Harold Price adds: “Mark your logs to note that you are aware that the RWT was missed and that it was an equipment problem that has been corrected with a firmware update.”
