SBE Chapter 37 in Washington, D.C., will soon host a half-day event about shared antennas and combining systems. The free event, dubbed “AntennaFest,” is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (ET) at WETA Headquarters in Shirlington, Va.
According to organizers, representatives from several broadcast technology and antenna companies will be present to discuss their solutions for combining multiple broadcast signals for use with a single antenna system, “addressing the numerous variables and constraints unique to every project.”
Five presentations have been lined up to educate and demonstrate solutions to common issues, including a talk with Nautel’s Jeff Welton on RF basics; with American Amplifier Technologies/Shively Labs’s Steve Wilde on combined FM transmission systems and transmission system design considerations; and with Dielectric’s Cory Edwards on overcoming the obstacles with new patent pending technology.
Additionally, Ben Brinitzer of American Tower Corporation will speak on master antenna TV/radio design considerations and Nicholas Paulin from Electronics Research Inc., will speak about the four-station cogwheel antenna installed at American University.
Gary Cavell, senior director of the Cavell Mertz Spectrum Division of Capitol Airspace Group, will moderate a roundtable discussion with the presenters to answer questions and close out the day.
Register for the in-person event here. Participation will be limited to a total of 75 attendees.
