SCBA Plans Winter Convention in Columbia

(Here's info to get onto the exhibit floor for free.)

Early registration ends Dec. 19 for the upcoming winter convention of the South Carolina Broadcasters Association.

It will be held at the Embassy Suites in Columbia, S.C., on Jan. 8 and 9. Sessions are aimed at sales and engineering, and there will be general sessions for all attendees, a broadcast exhibition, a legislative breakfast and other events.

The exhibit floor is open on Thursday Jan. 8; free exhibits-only admission is available. Among vendors of interest to radio are Broadcast Electronics, Broadcasters General Store, Continental Electronics, Dielectric, ERI, ENCO Systems, Google, Harris, Jampro, Larcan, LBA, Logitek, Mainesource, Nautel, RCS, SCMS, Sony and Stainless. The full show agenda, for which there is a registration fee, includes a discussion of next-generation EAS; an update on FCC rules from Scott Johnson of Fletcher Heald & Hildreth; and “breakout sessions” for engineers including filter and antenna theory from Bob Surette of Shively and IP audio with Frank Grundstein of Logitek. HD Radio will be discussed by Gary Liebisch of Nautel and Tim Anderson of Harris. Other sessions cover TV engineering issues.
