The FCC has begun looking into payola allegations at some Spanish-language radio stations in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley.
According to The Monitor newspaper, radio stations told it that the agency’s Enforcement Bureau has contacted a number of stations asking about possible “pay-for-play” activities.
The FCC doesn’t discuss ongoing investigations, and some stations contacted by the paper, including Univsion, declined comment. Entravision Communications acknowledged receiving the FCC letters, and told the paper it is cooperating with the commission.
