Verge Expands Programming Network

Radio content syndicator adds ‘Storm Weather Report’ and ‘Saturday Outdoors’

Radio content and services syndicator Verge Network recently added two new programs to its network, “Storm Weather Report” and “Saturday Outdoors.”

The decision to acquire “Storm Weather Report” was based on research citing severe weather as the top reason (other than music) that listeners tune to a station, a company press release stated.

Service from the private-label meteorological firm includes meteorologist Dan Holiday, whose presence and personal touch is marketed to add personality and credibility to a station’s brand. “Storm Weather Report” includes on-air forecasting services and on-call severe weather features such as e-mail and text message alerts.

“Saturday Outdoors” is a weekly two-hour live talk series centered on hunting, fishing and the outdoor lifestyle. According to a press release, the show opens revenue streams in the nation’s heartland, connecting listeners and advertisers to quality hosts and guests.

Programming for “Saturday Outdoors” airs Saturday mornings 6–8am CST, and is delivered through an IP streaming setup provided by the network. Verge also offers subscribers the tools to launch locally-based promotions coinciding with national sponsors, and a sales template to help stations find local sponsors and enter the outdoors market.

Both programs offer integrated content between on-air and online environments through a station’s website, social media site and mobile apps.
