XM Canada Prepares for IPO; Names Management, Program Lineup

Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. confirmed the programming lineup for its XM Canada service in regulatory filings this week, as it prepares to begin service.
It will offer more than 80 channels and at least eight would be Canadian-produced, split evenly between English and French-language material.
Backed by John Bitove Jr., XM Canada plans to offer commercial-free music and NHL hockey on its stations. The programming will be available “for this year’s holiday season,” along with satellite receivers in stores, the company said.
Stephen Tapp leads XM Canada management as president/CEO. The company stated Tapp’s broadcasting experience includes stints at CHUM Television and Viewer’s Choice Canada Pay Per View.
In an amended preliminary prospectus filed with regulators, the company named underwriters for its upcoming IPO.
CSR estimates the offering, expected to be completed in the first week of December, could raise $50 million.
