IBC Sneak Peeks: Wheatstone Shows EDGE, Screen Builder

Introduces IP wireless radio interface, customization app, more

Wheatstone will highlight its EDGE, IP wireless radio interface for its WheatNet-IP end-to-end IP audio network at IBC2015.

The Network EDGE interfaces directly to an IP wireless radio or commercial leased line for point-to-point connectivity between locations and makes it possible for broadcasters to take advantage of affordable IP wireless radios in the unlicensed 5 or 24 GHz range.

Network EDGE is designed specifically as a translator between high-quality, low-latency studio networks such as WheatNet-IP and low-bandwidth STL connectivity options such as IP wireless radios, explains Wheatstone. The Network EDGE is AES67 compatible, and includes local I/O (two AES and two stereo analog) and 12 programmable logic ports.

Wheatstone makes the WheatNet-IP audio network, a complete networked solution for the studio including IP consoles, appliances, interfaces, processors and software. In addition to EDGE, Wheatstone is also showing for the first time at IBC several new IP consoles and new Screen Builder application for customizing the WheatNet-IP audio network by studio, show or application.

The Screen Builder app lets operators arrange faders, knobs, buttons, clocks, timers, meters, events and other widgets in a drag and drop environment. Simply link widgets to hardware such as microphones, codecs, and consoles located in the network and determine what each widget does using a simple Script Wizard.
