Transmitter manufacturer Nautel is teasing attendees of the BroadcastAsia show in Singapore with the VS series, a planned new family of low-power FM transmitters.
Ranging in power from 300 W to 2.5 kW, the VS series most notable feature might be the addition of compatibility with Axia Audio Livewire IP networking system. Using Livewire, broadcasters will be able to deliver audio straight to the transmitter from the network via Cat-5 cabling and an Ethernet connection.
Other VS series features include an integrated exciter, field-swappable power transistors and easily accessed washable air filters. The VS series also uses Nautel’s Advanced User Interface for control and monitoring. Options include HD Radio and DRM modules.
Models to be available are the 300 W VS300, 1 kW VS1 and the 2.5 kW VS2.5. Expected delivery is early in 2010.
Nautel President Peter Conlon said: “We are excited to present the VS series as an option for low-power broadcasters who are looking for a cost-effective, robust transmission solution today but need to be confident that their investment will address future requirements such as Internet I/O and Axia Livewire support and digital broadcasting.”
