JBL has a new line of portable powered speakers aimed at small and mid-sized venue situations. The PRX600 family consists of four full-range speakers and a pair of subwoofers.
The subwoofers utilize 18-inch drivers. Drivers in the series use JBL’s Differential Drive technology, onboard dbx Type IV limiters and offer DSP options.
Power is courtesy of onboard Crown Class D amps. JBL says that the PRX600 family is 15% lighter and 20 percent smaller than predecessor speakers.
Grilles are 16-gauge powder-coated steel. Cabinets are made of 18 mm tongue-and-groove plywood with a DuraFlex finish. Pole mounts are on both subwoofers and two of the full-range cabinets.
Available models are single 12-inch driver (PRX612M), single 15-inch driver (PRX615M), dual 15-inch drivers (PRX625) and a three-way system (PRX635) with a 15-inch driver and a 6.5-inch driver. All models have a 1.5-inch tweeter except the three-way model which has a 1-inch tweeter. The PRX612M and PRX615M have a modified wedge cabinet for use as a stage monitor.
