Pop filters are a wonderful thing but they can be cumbersome or simply get in the way.
Microphone accessories maker WindTech thinks it has a solution in the PopGard PG-2000. The PopGard is a small pop filter designed to mount directly onto the microphone, notably side-address designs.
Two elastic bands hold the PopGard’s business end stable in front of the diaphragm. Such a mounting scheme allows the mic to be moved easily, with the PopGard remaining in place. A microphone with a PopGard mounted could be handheld.
The PopGard PG-2000, made in the United States, will fit mics 46–68 millimeters in diameter. Its screen is hydrophobic.
