MPB Reveals Portable Sensor Calibration System

CAL-P covers a frequency range from 25 MHz to 4 GHz

MPB has introduced CAL-P, a portable and universal calibration system for broadband sensors, selective antennas and personal protective equipment used in electromagnetic field measurements.

The company says it is suitable for laboratory and field applications.

“The CAL-P offers professionals a complete solution to perform functional checks of EMF sensors without relying on additional laboratory support.”

The CAL-P covers a frequency range from 25 MHz to 4 GHz and is designed for compatibility with probes and instruments from manufacturers such as Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, Anritsu, Narda/PMM, Wavecontrol, Microrad and Aldena.

Its modular structure accommodates sensors and antennas of different sizes using interchangeable jigs, which operators can characterize independently. MPB provides free software to automate this process.

MPB highlights the CAL-P’s independence of operation. It requires no external control units and functions in standalone mode, featuring a 3.5-inch touchscreen interface. Weighing 1.7 kg, the CAL-P is powered by replaceable 18650A batteries, rechargeable via USB-C, and offers approximately two hours of use. Connectivity is provided through USB-C and fiber optic links, while RF output is provided via an N-type female connector.

For applications requiring higher field intensities, high-power jig versions are available, handling generating fields of up to 150 V/m.
