IHeartMedia Makes Shifts for Programming, Sales Positions

Denver, Delaware and Sacramento experience changes

IHeartMedia has tapped Jim Lawson as senior vice president of programming for the Denver market.

The Delaware cluster also said Larry Mendte has been named morning show host for WILM(AM) and WDOV(AM). Additionally, Ann Postell has been named director of sales for the Sacramento, Calif., market. Finally, iHeartMedia Louisville says Kobi will become the new program director for WNRW(FM) and WLGX(FM).

As senior vice president of programming, Lawson will lead the programming and on-air team to create and deliver content that reaches consumers through the unmatched assets of all eight Denver stations including on-air, online, social media, personalities and live events, the company said.

Lawson most recently served as senior vice president of programming for iHeartMedia’s Colorado Regional Markets, Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Ft. Collins and Hispanic brand manager for National Programming Platforms. He joined iHeartMedia in 2001 as PD of KFMD(FM) in Denver. Prior to that, he was one of the architects and PDs of the first modern AC station, KALC(FM) in Denver. His career also includes multiformat experience in programming and on-air roles at CHR, classic rock, AC, hot AC, adult hits and news/talk stations in Denver, Chicago, Milwaukee and Lansing, Mich.

IHeartMedia Denver includes KOA(AM), KHOW(AM), KKZN(AM), KBCO(FM), KBPI(FM), KPTT(FM), KRFX(FM), KTCL(FM), Denver Broncos Radio Network, Colorado Rockies Radio Network and University of Colorado Sports Network and it produces events.

As NewsRadio WILM(AM) and NewsRadio WDOV(AM) morning show host, Mendte will create and deliver content reaching audiences through on-air, online, social media, personalities and live events.

Larry Mendte most recently served as an on-air host at WABC in New York. Other stops along his career included Tribune Broadcasting in New York, WKVP(FM), Philadelphia, KYW(TV) and WCAU(TV) in Philadelphia, Access Hollywood in Los Angeles, WBBM(TV) and WLS(AM) in Chicago.

IHeartMedia Delaware has a crossplatform presence which includes a number of brands and franchises both broadcast and digital including, WILM(AM), WDOV(AM), WDSD(FM), WJXA(FM) and WWTX(AM).

In a new role as director of sales, Ann Postell will work with advertising and marketing partners to create and deliver opportunities to reach their consumers through iHeartMedia Sacramento’s assets. And the tools that will be available through iHeartMedia’s programmatic, real-time automated ad buying platform will enable the Sacramento sales team to provide benefits to their advertisers by offering more efficiency, superior effectiveness and a higher return on investment, the company said.

Postell, who has most recently been the director of sales at KTXL(TV), has experience in local and national sales with both radio and television. Her career has included tenure with CBS, Comcast, Westinghouse and Tribune Media, among others. She has also worked in San Francisco, Boston and New York.

IHeartMedia Sacramento includes broadcast and digital brands and franchises such as KFBK(AM/FM), KSTE(AM), KBEB(FM), KHYL(FM) and KQJK(FM). Postell will be responsible for managing the sales efforts in the market.

Kobi is the new program director for WNRW and WLGX in Louisville. He currently serves as PD for iHeartMedia’s KWNW(FM) in Memphis, Tenn., with previous service in Raleigh, Harrisburg, Philadelphia and other markets.

IHeartMedia Louisville owns and operates WTFX(FM), WQMF(FM), WAMZ(FM), WNRW, WLGX, WKRD(AM), WHAS(AM) and WKJK(AM).
