WQAM Is All in With Lebron-a-thon

Keeping “The King” in Miami is the station’s mission

Sometimes a station’s got to do what a station’s got to do.

Witness Beasley Broadcast-owned WQAM(AM) in Miami. With the possibility that Miami Heat star Lebron James might leave for another team, WQAM is holding a Lebron-a-thon to keep him in a Heat uniform.

It’s all in good fun, however. The station could never raise enough money to keep James in town and the NBA would probably frown upon it anyway. The proceeds of the fundraiser will actually go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County. Each donor also is entered into a drawing for tickets to the Heat’s home opener next season.

Not surprisingly, this effort has drawn other media attention — here and here and here and here.
