Software developer Audiofile has announced a “major” update to its

Spectre

audio analysis program for Mac.

According to Audiofile, version 1.7 has been rewritten from the ground up. Co-Founder Matthew Foust said of the new version, “the enhanced performance in version 1.7 makes your meters more detailed and responsive, providing an even clearer picture of your audio.”

The new version is more stable and has better performance; is optimized for Mavericks and Retina displays; meter configuration is now built into each meter; and traces have their own spectral analysis settings.

Spectre includes 20 different multichannel and multitrace meters such as level, VU, BBC, LU, LU history spectrograph, spectrogram, oscilloscope, LEQ, waveform, Lissajous and phase coherence.

Audiofile 1.7 is available at the

Mac App Store
