For five nights the Empire State Building will have LED tower light shows, synchronized to music for the holidays.
The 1,454-foot tall building is home to several FMs in the New York City market.
Building owner Empire State Realty Trust and Clear Channel Media and Entertainment are partnering on the project. They plan to synchronize the lights to a mix of classic and modern holiday music, broadcasting on Clear Channel WLTW(FM), New York. Each show will be choreographed by lighting designer Marc Brickman.
Four light-and-music shows will play nightly at 7 p.m. EST, beginning on Friday, Dec. 20, through Monday, Dec. 23. Videos of the shows will be posted each night on ESB’s You Tube page. Viewers can help select ESB’s lights for Christmas Eve. The ESB Holiday Light Show team will review YouTube views, iHeartRadio posts, Facebook comments, Tweets and other social media comments to select the Christmas Eve performance, again with WLTW on Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. EST.
Empire State Realty Trust Chairman, President/CEO Anthony Malkin said more than a million people viewed the last collaborative light show on Halloween. Both the Clear Channel and Empire team look forward to “to the first year of what we hope will be an annual holiday treat for revelers around the world.”
Following each of the live shows, fans can watch videos on the Empire State Building’s You Tube page. Worldwide Internet activity will help determine the selection of the Empire State Building’s and Clear Channel’s Christmas Eve grand finale show on Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. EST.
