Mets Choose WOR

Clear Channel to deploy other properties and services for Mets

In what might be a happy ending, the New York Mets have found a new radio home, WOR(AM).

Jilted when his former station, WFAN(FM), ran off with the hated Yankees, Mr. Met may have caught a break landing with the Clear Channel property.

According to a release, besides airing multiple Mets-related programs on the 50 kW WOR, Clear Channel will deploy its other properties in the city, WHTZ(FM), WKTU(FM), WLTW(FM), WAXQ(FM) and WWPR(FM) in promotional efforts. In addition, Clear Channel outdoor advertising will also be used.

Not surprisingly, the iHeartRadio platform and events marketing will also be used along Clear Channel’s Clear Channel Communities charitable arm for charitable cross-promotion. A five-year agreement was signed.

Mets COO Jeff Wilpon noted, “This breakthrough partnership provides us with the ability to serve our loyal fans and attract a new generation of fans through Clear Channel’s massive reach and ability to target key demographics across the New York market.”

He added, “Our agreement delivers more promotion of the club to a broader audience than this franchise ever has had before with additional opportunities to advance our efforts to make Citi Field one of the leading sports and entertainment destinations in the country.”
