Pandora Boosts Sales Force

Kennedy: ‘They see Pandora as the future of radio and the future of radio advertising.’

We’ve reported Pandora has been focused on beefing up its sales staff, often by hiring personnel who have AM/FM selling experience. “They see Pandora as the future of radio and the future of radio advertising,” company Chair/CEO Joe Kennedy says.

Now Kennedy shines more light on Pandora’s sales staff. In an earnings call with Wall Street analysts, he said the company has 568 employees, up from 359 in the first quarter of last year.

In the top 10 markets, the Internet audio music service has five or six sales people to a market, which Kennedy calls “an early team size.”

He declined to elaborate on how many more salespeople the company would hire, or when or where, only saying, “Clearly we have growth ahead of us,” but the company feels “the pieces of the puzzle are coming together.”
