CEA Standards Groups Look at Home and Car Audio Testing

The Consumer Electronics Association said its Technology and Standards committees are revising and developing standards for home and car audio testing methods.

The Consumer Electronics Association said its Technology and Standards committees are revising and developing standards for home and car audio testing methods.

The Mobile Electronics Committee plans to revise CEA-2006-A, “Testing and Measurement Methods for Mobile Audio Amplifiers,” to clarify testing methods.

“This standard is the basis for CEA’s successful mobile amplifier power logo program used by many amplifier manufacturers to identify their products as industry standard compliant,” it stated.

Its Audio Systems Committee is developing a standard to define test procedures for several common loudspeaker characteristics, such as frequency response and impedance, and requirements for reporting the test results.

CEA said the committees welcome participation from companies and organizations with a material interest; membership is not required.
