The largest unionized workforce at CBS has a new collective bargaining agreement.

The IBEW and CBS Broadcasting this week announced an “early deal” to extend their current agreement for three years. The old contract expires this summer; the new one runs to summer 2010 and was ratified last week.

The extension provides salary increases of 3% the first two years and 3.5% in the final year. It includes increases in contributions to benefits funds for freelance and per diem employees, and for certain travel and per diem allowances for staff and freelancers.

The contract covers a national unit of technical employees including soundpeople, camerapersons, editors and maintenance technicians who work at CBS News, Sports, Entertainment, Television Stations, Radio and Operations.
